About WikiRug
Wiki Rug or WikiRug is a bilingual Online Encyclopedia of Persian and Oriental Carpets, based on open collaboration through a wiki-based content editing system. This encyclopedia covers the diverse forms that the art and craft of handmade rug taken over centuries across the world, particularly in Persia (Iran), Afghanistan, India, Anatolia (Turkey), and central Asia. The entries of WikiRug will include but not limited to the following: general terminology, weaving tools, technique and materials, carpet styles, designs, patterns, motifs, carpet production origins (counties, regions, cities, villages), research materials (books, magazines, websites), carpet market and industry, as well as individuals (designers, master weavers, artisans, researchers).
